The family of Smiling has been informed of the tremendous sorrow felt by the Party Leader and Chairman, as well as the National Executive, and they have all been given their sympathies for their loss. Winston Smiling was a well-known businessman in Belize and an active member of the People’s United Party (PUP). He was also noted for his smile. He kept up a tight friendship with his uncle George Price, who had served as Prime Minister in the past, for the better part of four decades.
During the administrations of Price and Musa, Smiling served as a senator, and for a number of years, he was also on the board of directors for the Belize Airports Authority. In addition, Smiling was a member of the Belize Ports Authority. During his career with the PUP, Smiling held a number of important positions, including a seat on the Party’s National Executive Committee. He was also a member of a number of other key committees. Right up until the moment he passed away, he was a highly esteemed member of the Order of Distinguished Service (ODS).
Winston Smiling has devoted his entire life to helping Belize and the PUP, and the party is thankful for his service to the country and to the party.
