Tom Tierney Obituary, Rutland Resident Has Sadly Passed Away

Tom Tierney Obituary, Death   Thomas F. “Tom” Tierney, who was 71 years old and lived in rural Rutland, abruptly passed away. He was the son of Francis Tierney and Iva (Fisher) Tierney and was born on January 18, 1952, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Tom received his high school diploma from Fort Dodge Senior High School after spending his childhood in Fort Dodge, where he also worked at the local movie theater. After graduating from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, he launched his professional career as an Information Technology Specialist with Fort Dodge Laboratories. On September 22, 1990, Tom and Jacqueline Piersel exchanged vows and became husband and wife.

The couple established their new life together in Fort Dodge, where they also began their family. In 2002, they made the move to an acreage located close to Rutland, where they have been raising their family ever since. It was in the year 2013 when he began working for Wells Fargo Bank, and he was still there in the capacity of project manager. He was a board member of the Humota Movie Group, a lifelong member of the Sierra Club, and a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church, where he sang in the church choir.

In addition, he was a member of the Sierra Club. His passion in life was photography. Through his photographs, he devoted many hours to promoting the city of Humboldt. Tom is survived by his children Katherine Tierney of Humboldt, Allen (Erin Quinn) Tierney of Ames, and Mary Tierney of Rutland. He is also survived by his wife Jackie, who lives in rural Rutland. His parents passed away before he did in this life.
