Sofia Puigserver Obituary, Death – enchanting Sofia Puigserver on January 26, 2023, Frank Sofia, affectionately known as “S,” died and went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2023. He was born on March 5, 1941, the second son and overall child of Lawrence and Rosaria (Scibilia) Sofia. He grew up in Syracuse’s Northside and received a full scholarship to Le Moyne College, where he completed his studies for a degree in education five years after leaving North High School in 1959.

He went to North High School as well. He spent one year as a teacher at St. John the Evangelist School prior to starting his career in 1965 as a social studies instructor at Liverpool High School. Over the course of his 35-year teaching career, “S” got active in a wide range of extracurricular activities at the school. He founded a pep club, provided guidance to the student government, and helped build a variety of fresh customs emphasizing school spirit.

The first senior lounge, the Welcome Frosh Dance, the yearly bonfire, and homecoming floats are a few of these customs. He also established himself as the go-to person for class reunions, published “The Smoke Signal,” a periodical for graduates, and hosted an annual alumni dinner dance, all of which helped him become known within the LHS Alumni Association. All of these factors helped him establish himself as a household name.

He also served as a mentor and coach for the LHS Varsity Club. Prior to his retirement from teaching in 2000, he had a significant impact on a lot of pupils and their lives. Soon after that, he received a call asking him to return to his prior job as the stadium coordinator for LHS, where he worked each game and was renowned as the Liverpool Warriors’ biggest supporter. He held the position till the year 2020.
