Robert Dowdell Obituary, Death – Robert Victor Dowdell, 53, of Batavia, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at Delnor Community Hospital, in Geneva, IL. He was born March 9, 1970, in Woodridge, IL to Richard and Carolyn (Ansbro) Dowdell. He was united in marriage to his wife Theresa (Shaffer) Dowdell, October 21, 2000, in Mooseheart, IL
Lifelong Batavia Resident, Batavia Youth Baseball, BHS Football and Wrestling; Graduating Class 1988.Eastern Illinois University-Economics and Communications. He became a dedicated fan of the Miami Dolphins at the age of 7 and anticipated every NFL Season thereafter. He fulfilled a dream to go to Miami to see a Dolphin game in their home stadium and as a bonus ran into some players in the hotel.
He also was a Boston Red Sox Fan and made it to Boston to see two games in Fenway Park before they rebuilt it. He treasured a summer spent with close friends seeing games at various MLB fields in the Midwest. He shares a love of roller coasters with his daughters of which the long waiting lines lead to them bearing witness to their dad’s natural ability to befriend anyone around him in those moments.
His communication skills and talents were what made him our beloved Rob, he always made time to call a family member or friend just to talk and he could make a story out of the most mundane errand on a Tuesday afternoon. He is survived by his wife Theresa, their daughters; Rhiannon and Shaye Dowdell and his mother Carolyn, brother Rick Dowdell, sisters Karen Doenges and Shannon Rounds, step mother; Lynn Dowdell and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Richard Dowdell and brother Mark Dowdell. Visitation will take place Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 10:00 A.M until 12:00 P.M at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave, Batavia, IL 60510. The funeral service will take place at 12:00 P.M. at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave, Batavia, IL 60510. A burial will take place immediately after at West Batavia Cemetery.
