Moyra Murray Obituary, Moyra Murray Has Sadly Passed Away

Moyra Murray Obituary, Death – Moyra Murray Has Sadly Passed Away. We are very sorry to share more sad news. Moyra Murray – who lived in Newton Dee until a few years ago, passed away this weekend. Many of you will remember Moyra.
Moyra moved to a Nursing home in 2016 as her care needs were more than we could manage. We will miss her. And though she was not living with us in ND anymore, we wanted to share this as many of you will remember her fondly.
Moyra Jean Murray 4 July 1938 – Saturday 13 May 2023 Moyra Jean Murray joined Newton Dee Camphill Community on 1 August 1975 at the age of 37 years. She lived with her parents in the Edinburgh area and later moved with them to Perthshire in 1949 where her parents ran a “The Tea Room” in the village of Ballinluig near Pitlochry. Moyra’s father died in 1964 and her mother in 1971. Soon after her mother died, Moyra suffered a “reactive depression” which resulted in her being admitted to Strathmartine Hospital in Dundee where she remained until August 1975 when she came to live in Newton Dee.
She had two brothers, one who lived in South Africa and another who lived in Perthshire with whom she maintained contact following her move to Newton Dee. Moyra was always a quiet person who lived her life within Newton Dee with friends who appreciated her quiet, peaceful approach to life. She was quietly observant, a fine sense of humour and had an excellent memory.
During her 40 years in Newton Dee, Moyra was a much-appreciated member of different community households as the community developed.
She also worked in different workshops and households across the years. In 2016 Moyra needed increasing levels of care and support and moved to “Eastleigh” a care home in Peterculter, Aberdeen, where she was joined by two other friends from Newton Dee over the years. Moyra died peacefully in the early hours of Saturday 13 May 2023. We hope that those who she got to know at the Eastleigh Care Home were able to appreciate Moyra’s quiet, peaceful, humorous approach to life as much as we did here in Newton Dee. The funeral arrangements have not yet been finalised but do contact Newton Dee Office (Email: info@newtondee.org.uk) if you wish to be informed.
