“I am profoundly saddened to learn of the demise of Former Greenville City Attorney Andrew Alexander, who was lovingly nicknamed “Andy” by the City of Greenville residents, elected leaders, workers, law firm colleagues, family and friends. His departure has left me with a tremendous sense of loss. Andy’s extensive history of legal, municipal, and public service, along with his profound love for the city of Greenville, made him an ideal candidate for public service.
After serving on the city council for a while, Andy was selected to the position of municipal attorney, where he remained for more than 20 years. Because he was so dedicated to his career and his family, he will be sorely missed. I am appreciative of his unwavering commitment and the service he has provided to the City of Greenville. I am grateful for the numerous blessings that I have been able to share with him throughout the years. As a community, we are saddened by Andy’s passing and share in his loss and anguish. During this trying time, we want his devoted wife, Betsy, and his entire family to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers.
