Anna Fenlon Obituary, Death – We learned earlier today of the untimely departure of our cherished club President Anna Fenlon, and it has filled all of us with an overwhelming sense of loss. An absolutely nice individual who has provided an incredible amount of support to the St. Joseph’s GAA Club. As Chairperson of our Underage Section during the 1980s and 1990s, Anna played an important role in ensuring the continued success of our Underage Section.
Anna rode her moped in close pursuit of the several buses that left from St. Joseph’s to take minor athletes to their competitions. Even when she wasn’t at the club, she was terrific with children and always looked out for their best interests. Anna oversaw a large number of young people, including both boys and girls, and every one of them held the highest regard for her and invariably talked warmly about her.
Anna continued her involvement with the club even when she had a career in politics. She just made the time for it.In 2008, when St. Joseph’s won the junior championship in Wexford Park, she was filled with enormous pleasure since the team was backboned by her three sons: Rocky played full defense, Captain Boppy played goal, and Mark played wing forward. On that particular day, she couldn’t contain her happiness and shed tears of pleasure since the majority of the team had been taught by Anna at some point, and the victory was just recompense for all of the hard work she had put in over the years.
St. Joseph’s are beholden to Anna for all of the arduous work that she has done over the years for the club, and the news of her demise has placed a dark shadow over not only the club but the entire community as well. Our sincere condolences go out to her sons Mark, Boppy, and Rocky, as well as her daughter Katriona, as well as her grandkids and extended family. Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. All of the matches that were scheduled for the upcoming days as well as the weekend have been postponed out of respect for Anna and her family. We are grateful for everything you’ve done, Anna, and you will not be forgotten.
